Free Observational Astronomy “Night”

Sci-Tech invites the public to a free astronomy event on Friday, January 3, 2025. Due to the special focus of this event, it will take place at an unusual time, namely at 5:30 AM that morning.

The early morning time is scheduled to coincide with the peak of the Quadrantids Meteor Shower, which often provides some dramatic fireballs – exceptionally bright meteors.

Along with the meteor shower, telescopes will also be set up to observe the planet Mars, and other celestial phenomena.

Sci-Tech staff will be on hand to help viewers observe the telescopic images, and guide viewers around the sky.

This event will be held in Watertown’s Thompson Park, on West Tower Drive, across from the 10th Mountain Division Monument.

Observers should plan to dress very warmly.

In the event of overcast skies, the astronomy event will be canceled, and a message to that effect will be placed on the Sci-Tech astronomy telephone line at (315) 788-2738.
